“Everything is just so hard.” “My child is out of control.” “I’m so tired of feeling this way.” These types of statements often reflect the type of feelings Kelly’s clients have. Adult Counseling:
Kelly also sees some adults clients. She specializes in parenting and family counseling, trauma and sexual abuse counseling when working with adults. Kelly works with all parents who have children in child therapy or adolescent counseling to create a collaborative plan for therapy both in and out of session. In addition, Kelly provides tips, skills, and support for parents working with difficult children or teens as they progress in therapy.
Group Counseling:
Kelly provides services to clients of all ages both individually and in groups such as the Teen Intervention Program (TIP) and DBT Skills training courses. She provides therapy in a supportive and caring environment focused on helping clients to reach their goals and overcome life obstacles.
Kelly’s group offers an option for treating teens that may need more intensive care than weekly sessions alone may offer, yet do not need intensive outpatient or inpatient treatments. Examples include teens stepping down from intensive outpatient programs, recently discharged teens, teens needing additional sessions, or teens needing additional support as an adjunct to individual treatment. Additionally, teens often respond to a group adolescent counseling format better than individual counseling making this a viable standalone treatment. This may be especially true for issues such as substance abuse, anger-management, and grief addressed weekly in the program.
Neurofeedback:
Kelly providers LENS Neurofeedback to aid in emotional regulation and supportive treatment for a variety of disorders including medically and neurologically complex diagnoses.
Supervision:
Kelly is also a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor and Registered Play Therapy Supervisor providing supervision and training for graduate practicum counselors and LPC Associates seeking licensure in the state of Texas as well as clinicians seeking the Registered Play Therapist (RPT) credential.
Kelly and her husband Kerric were married in 2000 and have three children. She enjoys reading, cooking, and spending time outdoors. Kelly has a heart of service leading to involvement in various local community, church, and children’s outreach programs including the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.
