Dr. Uttamchandani is passionate about providing her clients with an emotionally safe and collaborative psychotherapy experience. She facilitates healing and personal development for her clients by empowering them to maximize their current strengths and develop new ones. Dr. U views herself as a “psychodynamic-relational” therapist- attending to how past and current experiences intersect. Core to her approach is the belief that all individuals have an innate ability to grow and heal when allowed to resolve their internal conflicts in a nurturing space.

Education Training

Dr. U received her undergraduate degree from Ohio State University, in Psychology and Disability Studies. She received her graduate degree in Clinical Psychology from New York University, and her doctorate in Clinical Psychology with a specialization in Child and Adolescent treatment from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. She completed her pre-doctoral psychology internship at Regional Mental Health Center, Indiana – an American Psychological Association (APA) accredited training site.

Dr. Uttamchandani (Dr. U) is a licensed psychologist. During her extensive years of practice in Michigan, Tennessee and Texas; she has provided psychotherapy and assessments to children, adolescents, adults and families. She has worked in diverse clinical settings, such as, inpatient units, community mental health agencies, refugee resettlement agencies, developmental disability clinics and private practice.

Comprehensive Psychological Assessments

Dr. U has training and expertise in conducting psychological assessments for children, adolescents and adults. She provides comprehensive assessments using a collaborative and structured approach. Through these assessments Dr. U offers diagnostic clarifications and treatment recommendations that help her clients engage in healthy behavioral, cognitive and emotional patterns. Dr. U works closely with her clients’ treatment team to support the implementation of her treatment recommendations. Additionally, she is trained and certified in ADOS-II testing- often considered the golden standard for diagnosing autism.
